I am taken by the things that are seen but overlooked, this body of work speaks of life along the Hudson River before the implementation of environmentalism. It was a time when industries thrived, and the effects have left traces of a different era. From paper mills, and chemical run offs, to the remains of brick that line the Hudson coastline polished by the changing tide. The once plentiful oyster reefs now inedible dot the beaches where fishermen still fish. The spiky seeds of water chestnuts choke the oxygen out of the Hudson water. These are my thoughts and inspiration that have created this installation. Beauty overlooked by chaos in a fragile form.
